Megan Mullings Crowned Molten Defensive Player of the Year
B. Braun Sheffield Hatters forward Megan Mullings has been named the Super League Basketball Molten Defensive Player of the Year for the 2025/26 season, following a voting process involving the league's Head Coaches and Captains.
The 33-year-old American has been a driving force for the treble-winners on both ends of the floor throughout the campaign, though it is her defensive contributions that have earned her this particular honour. A disruptive and intelligent presence, Mullings takes enormous pride in her defensive work and has led by example for one of the league's most formidable defensive outfits.
Reflecting on the recognition, Mullings spoke of her delight at an award that goes beyond statistics. "I never want to let anybody score easily or the same way twice," she said, adding that it means a great deal to be recognised in a league that values the less quantifiable aspects of defending. She also paid tribute to Head Coaches Vanessa Ellis and Tyler, crediting the defensive scheme they have built at Sheffield as central to her ability to thrive.
Head Coach Ellis was equally fulsome in her praise, describing Mullings' defensive presence as "a cornerstone" of the team all season. Ellis highlighted her player's ability to read the game, apply pressure, and consistently disrupt opposition rhythm — qualities that have set the tone for Sheffield's defensive identity night after night.
For a team that has made defence its defining priority, Mullings has been its standard-bearer — and this award reflects that perfectly.
